What has been the focus of this week's training'
We are back to training just as hard as we have since day one. We have an extra day of training this week because we play on Sunday thus giving us the opportunity to further develop as a team. We will continue to improve in all areas of our game. Our possession needs to improve as does our defending.
How are the players feeling confidence-wise'
The players feel good. However, I have reminded them that winning one game is not a reason to get too confident or celebrate. We need to continue with the mindset that we are here to continuously improve throughout the season and that we must work harder than all our opponents at every training session and every game.
In what area are they improving most'
I think we are improving in all areas. In our previous game against Sky Blue FC, we did a lot of things better than our first game against Boston. We possessed the ball better, we attacked better, and we defended better. I also think mentally we have improved as we never gave up and fought hard the entire game.
What is an obstacle(s) have they recently overcome'
The biggest obstacle has been to get the team to transfer our playing style into WPS. In the first game we struggled to implement our style of play but against NJ our playing style started to surface.
What is your outlook towards this Sunday's game'
I think WNY is the best team in the league. They have quality players all over the field and a deep bench. I'm happy that we will get to play against them two weeks in a row because it will challenge us and make us better in the long run. The upcoming games will help our young players grow immensely. Playing against a quality team like WNY will give our young squad a great opportunity to improve and compete against the best team on paper in WPS.
How are you looking to contain Marta and the WNY attack'
We are not thinking about Marta. WNY has other players that are just as effective as Marta. We are focusing on just going out there and playing our game and improving again. We are taking another step forward in the overall development of our team.
