Miami Manatees announce 'Name the Mascots' Contest

MIAMI, Fla. - The Miami Manatees proudly announced today the "Name the Mascots" contest, their first of many upcoming contests for Miami hockey fans.
The Miami mascots have been going by the names "Manahee" and "Manashe" but the Manatees are looking for mascot names that better tie the mascots to the community and highlight their competitive nature and desire to win.
"We are big on fan involvement, and want the fans to have a say in naming the mascots that will represent their team," Assistant General Manager Shawn Thorimbert said. "We are very excited about the inaugural season for the Miami Manatees. Our plans are to bring an exciting and interactive atmosphere to the Miami Arena."
Fans may suggest their names by visiting www.miamimanatees.com and clicking on the "Name the Mascots" link, or suggestions can be e-mailed to info@go-manatees.com .
All entries must have a male and female name for the mascots, as well as the name, address, and daytime phone number for the person submitting the names. Only one entry per person will be accepted.
The winner of the "Name the Mascots" contest will receive a FREE pair of season tickets for the team's upcoming WHA2 season and an autographed Manatees jersey. In the event that more than one person has suggested the winning names, then all people suggesting the winning names will have their name entered into a drawing to determine a final winner. The remaining finalists will receive a FREE pair of tickets to the team's opening night game.
The Miami Manatees make their home in the Miami Arena and will face off against the Lakeland Loggerheads, Jacksonville Barracudas, Orlando Seals, Macon Trax, and a yet-to-be-named Central Alabama team in late October in the new WHA2.
