Merry Christmas, Huntington, Heroes Sign Six More

December 15, 2007 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) - Huntington Heroes News Release

Just in time for Christmas, the Huntington Heroes signed contracts with six more players late last week.

Joining the Heroes at wide receiver in 2008 are Howard Gilmore and Senaca Booth. Gilmore (6'1" 195) was a stand out receiver at Norfolk State and was a sure handed receiver during the 2007 season with the Mississippi MudCats. Booth (6'4" 215) joins the Heroes after a strong career at Santa Anna Junior College and Avila University. Coach Johnson, "Howard Gilmore is very hungry to make it to the next level. He brings experience and leadership to the wide receiver position and Booth is an all around solid athlete and he has the ability to be a big time playmaker in this league.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Heroes have signed defensive back Lamont Ransby from Western Carolina. "Coach Keaton commented on the signing, "Lamont (5'9" 180) has great instincts and a lot of speed on the field. Dating back to high school at Miami Southridge and with the 2007 Lakeland Thunderbolts, Lamont knows what goes into winning championships."

The Heroes have also continued to sure up the Offensive and Defensive Lines by inking contracts with Justin Komondoreas, Micheal Jackson and Josh Pugh.

Komondoreas (6'1" 255) is a graduate of SE Missouri State and comes to the Heroes after two strong seasons with the Lakeland Thunderbolts, leading the team in sacks in 2007 with 13 and a half. "Komo has motor that just keeps going, he is constantly getting pressure on the QB and brings veteran leadership to the team," Coach Keaton commented. Jackson (6'2" 296) is a rookie from Iowa State and Pugh (6'2" 305) is a rookie from Alabama. Coach Johnson was excited about these two rookies, "Josh and Micheal are two solid rookies that we are anxious to see on the field. They each have the ability to play both sides of the ball and that is a tremendous asset to this football team. Both guys have great size and athletic ability."

As the roster continues to grow, the coaching staff is getting ready for a great season. Coach Keaton, "We are getting a great mix right now with veteran leadership and solid rookies. These are great players that will help solidify us a wide array of positions.
