Chicago Slaughter News Release
Hoffman Estates, IL -- The Chicago Slaughter, of the Continental Indoor Football League, will honor Head Coach Steve McMichael for his induction into the National Football Foundation's College Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place after this Saturday's game between the Slaughter (9-0) and the Wisconsin Wolfpack at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05pm.
McMichael, who played for the University of Texas from 1976-1979, becomes the Texas Longhorns' 15th player and 17th overall inductee into the Hall of Fame. McMichael will be honored with a trophy given by Chris Kearney, President of the Chicago Chapter of the NFF College Hall of Fame. Several of McMichael's former Chicago Bear teammates, including Gary Fencik and Richard Dent, will be in attendance during the post-game ceremony.
"I will never be able to thank The University of Texas enough for what it did for me during that time," McMichael said. "My `old man' put me on the road, but if it hadn't have been for Texas, I have no idea where I would be right now.
"I can tell you this, I will be wearing orange (at the induction ceremony). There is no way to describe how much this means, or how thankful I am to all of the people who helped me at Texas. All I can say is, `hook `em!'"
This Saturday will also be Fan Appreciation Night with the Chicago Slaughter, and the last home game this regular season for the team. The team will be giving away a trip to Puerto Vallarta, sponsored by World Wide Traveler, along with many other prizes. The team will also be selling Family Four Packs, where each family would receive four tickets to the game, and coupons for Gameworks at the Streets of Woodfield, Streamwood Lanes, Moe's Southwest Grill, and the Dairy Queen in Hoffman Estates.
The Slaughter (9-0) is the lone undefeated team in the CIFL, and has clinched a spot in the playoffs. For more information on the Chicago Slaughter, please call the team office at (847) 310-3190 or visit the team website at www.ChicagoSlaughter.com.
