Chicago Slaughter News Release
Hoffman Estates, IL Chicago Slaughter Head Coach, Steve McMichael, already has one championship in the his professional football history. As a part of the 1985 Chicago Bears squad, McMichael picked up a Super Bowl ring after their 16-1 regular season. However, McMichael has never experienced a perfect season in his entire amateur and professional football career until now.
?Perfection, even the seeking of perfection, is a beautiful thing, McMichael said after the Wolfpack victory. ?I have played football since I was age 11. I had a championship with the Bears. But never in all that time did I ever enjoy an undefeated season.
After their 49-14 victory over the Wisconsin Wolfpack this past weekend in Madison, the Slaughter finished their regular season 12-0. It?s quite a great accomplishment for the team, and one that is very important for McMichael.
That is something so rare in professional sports, and its something I think that all of us on this team are going to savor for many years to come, McMichael said. This means so much that its difficult to put the emotion into words.
It?s also been an exciting ride for the Slaughter players, who have done their best to play hard through the regular season. It means a lot to come in here and to get it done, OL Chris Pisani said. ?What we said tonight was that even though we knew for several weeks that we?d be coming into the playoffs, we never let down. We didnt send out subs, we didnt let things slide even though winning no longer impacted our playoff chances. We always played hard and we always wanted to win against the best competition in this league.
Even though it is sweet to finish the 2009 season 12-0, McMichael has his sights set on a higher goal and hes hoping to get area fans involved with the team?s title run.
Show up and help us win a championship,? McMichael said about the fans. I?m not in this just to be out here. I?m a friendly guy but nobody likes to lose, do they You only have fun when you win, and I want to have fun.
The 2009 Chicago Slaughter will host a Continental Indoor Football League Playoff game on June 20th at the Sears Centre. Kickoff will be at 7:05 against the Wisconsin Wolfpack. For more information, please call the Slaughter at (847) 310-3190 or visit our website at www.ChicagoSlaughter.com.
