Philadelphia Rebels News Release
Rebels forward Colton McMenamin was named the NAHL's East Division Player of the week for week ending January 24 while goaltender Darion Hanson was named second star of the week.
The Collegeville, PA native had four points in two games against the New Jersey Titans last week. He had an assist in the Rebels 4-0 victory over the Titans and then had two goals and an assist in the Rebels 4-1 win this past Friday night. "Colton has been the consummate teammate all year. I cannot think of another player more deserving. It says an awful lot of his growth, but rewarding because he is the last player that looks for an individual award. He is an unbelievable young man," said Rebels coach Joe Coombs.
McMenamin is the thirteenth Rebel to receive some type of weekly or monthly recognition by the NAHL this season.
It has been a busy week on and off the ice for Darion Hanson. On the Ice, Hanson earned his second shut out of the season as a Rebel defeating New Jersey 4-0 and then only allowing one goal in Friday's 4-1 win. He had a .50 goals against average and a .976% save percentage. Off the ice the accolades keep piling up for the Rebels' netminder. This is the fourth time this month that Hanson has received recognition from the league. Earlier today Hanson was named to play in the league's Top Prospects Tournament next month in Plymouth, MI.
