Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The JetHawks bullpen and defense, which had been so strong over the course of their six game winning streak, finally broke down Monday night in Adelanto. Lancaster committed two errors in the sixth inning to help stake High Desert to four runs. That sparked the Mavericks to an 11-5 win, ending the JetHawks streak. Lancaster falls back into a tie for first place with Rancho Cucamonga with a second half record of 17-13.

Lancaster took the lead early as they continued to hit home runs in Adelanto. Jon Still hit a two-run blast in the opening inning to give Lancaster the lead. Still homered in each game of the series. The same can be said by Luis Exposito, who hit a home run in the second inning of each game. This home run put the JetHawks ahead 4-0 in the second inning.

The Mavericks responded against Chris Province for four runs to tie the game in their half of the second inning. However Province settled down after that and left the game after five innings with his team leading 5-4.

The trouble for Lancaster came in the sixth. Two errors helped the Mavericks load the bases. Carlos Triunfel then took advantage with a grand slam to give High Desert the lead for good. The Mavericks continued to expand the lead with three more runs against the JetHawks bullpen.

Still had a pair of extra base hits to extend his season-high hitting streak to eight straight games. His home run was his 19th of the season, moving him into a tie for third place in the California League.

The JetHawks open a six-game homestand Tuesday night against Lake Elsinore. Travis Beazley (4-9) starts for Lancaster while the Storm counter with Drew Miller (7-5). The game starts at 7:00 PM.
