Mattson Re-Signs with Rockford

Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs announced today that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Nick Mattson on a one-year AHL contract.

Mattson, 24, played in 17 games for the IceHogs last season, his first as a pro, scoring seven points on one goal and six assists to go along with a +4 plus/minus rating. He also added an assist in two playoff performances.

In addition to his time with Rockford last season, Mattson skated in 48 games with Rockford's ECHL affiliate, the Indy Fuel. He notched one goal and added 14 assists for 15 points as well as 14 PIM.

Prior to joining the professional ranks, the Chanhassen, Minn. native played four seasons (2011-15) for the University of North Dakota (NCAA). He advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, and totaled 17 goals and 61 assists in 153 career games with UND over four seasons.

Mattson was drafted in the sixth round (#180 overall) by the Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
