Maryland Marvels Announces Premier Charity Partnership
September 4, 2009 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Laurel, MD. James Agbai, owner and GM of the ABA Maryland Marvels, announced that Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will be the premier charity partner for the Maryland Marvels this season.
"I am excited and extremely happy about this opportunity to partner with an organization that I have a personal connection - having had family that battled Type 1 Diabetes. Through my organization, we will work with JDRF to educate the public and create awareness," commented Agbai.
JDRF was founded in 1970 and offers support for adults, teens and children who face the challenges associated with diabetes. The organization has awarded over 1.3 billion dollars for research to find a cure for diabetes. The Maryland Marvels will collaborate with JDRF throughout the season at various games and events. For example, for every ticket sold to attend the Marvel's Pro Basketball Camp, the team will donate $1 to the Maryland chapter.
The Pro Basketball Camp game will take place at the Edward St. John Athletic Center at the Severn School, located at 201 Water Street, Severna Park MD 21146 at 4:30 p.m. The public is invited to come out and support their favorite player as well as JDRF.
