Marvin Phillips Named CBA Defensive Player Of The Year
March 19, 2008 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release
ALBANY, NY - The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Oklahoma Cavalry forward Marvin Phillips has been named the CBA Defensive Player of the Year for the 2007-08 season, as voted on by the ten CBA head coaches.
Phillips averaged 10.0 rebounds a game, good for third in the CBA. He also averaged a block and a steal a game for the National Conference runner up Cavalry. This is Phillips second season with the CBA. He started his career with Pittsburgh before being traded to Albany last season. He followed head coach Michael Ray Richardson west to play for Oklahoma this season, and has showed his defensive prowess by being able to guard shooting guards along with power forwards this season.
Joining Phillips on the CBA All-Defensive Team are Minot Guard, Ronnie Fields, Yakama forward Harvey Thomas, East Kentucky forward Steve Thomas and Minot forward Sidney Holmes.
