Marta is Coming to New Jersey on April 5th

SOMERSET, NJ (Jan. 13, 2009) - Sky Blue FC fans won't have wait long to get their first glimpse of the best player in the world in a Women's Professional Soccer game. The Los Angeles Sol announced today that FIFA World Player of the Year Marta will join the team for the inaugural WPS season.

Sky Blue FC will host the LA Sol in the New Jersey-based franchise's first-ever game on April 5, 2009 at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater NJ.

In anticipation of Marta's visit, Sky Blue FC introduced a new 2-Game Kickoff Special ticket package that offers fans a chance to see the team's first two games of the season and save. The second game of the season will be held on April 11, 2009 also at TD Bank Ballpark. Time and opponent for that match will be announced at a later date.

In addition, Sky Blue FC is now offering Luxury Suites packages for the two games at TD Bank Ballpark.

CLICK HERE FOR SKY BLUE FC TICKET INFORMATION The Los Angeles Sol announced the signing of Marta Vieira da Silva on the same date that the Brazil National Team star was awarded her third-straight FIFA World Player of the Year Award. Marta joins a potent Sol team that already features three U.S. Women's National Team players (Shannon Boxx, Aly Wagner, Stephanie Cox) and a host of others with significant international experience.

"I am extremely excited to be joining the Los Angeles Sol," Marta said. "Knowing that WPS is going to be the most competitive league in the world made my decision easy. I am going to Los Angeles to win as many titles as possible and achieve all the remaining goals in my professional life."

Since 2004, Marta, a native of the Brazilian state of Alagoas, has been playing for fabled Swedish women's club side Umea IK, helping lead to wide variety of team and personal accolades.
