March Madness: Minor League Baseball?

Published on March 10, 2008 under South Coast League (SCL) News Release

(Macon, GA) The South Coast League of Professional Baseball is gearing up for March Madness, but not of the basketball variety.

CNBC.com writer Darren Rovell has developed a bracket-style tournament to determine the best logo in all of minor league baseball, and three South Coast League teams have made the tournament field.

The online tournament, according to Rovell, will run from March 10th through March 31st. The single elimination tournament winner is based on voting from fans online at www.cnbc.com and visiting Rovell's ‘SportsBiz' section on the site.

The Aiken Foxhounds received a #3 seed, while the South Georgia Peanuts received a #7 seed, and the Anderson Joes received a #10 seed. Fans interested in voting must check back on the site daily to see which teams are competing that day. Different teams will compete on different days.

"It's exciting to see our brands, our logos, our teams on a national level," said J.D. Hardin, SCL Chief Development Officer.

"We're excited about our league's team's chances for this online competition and we hope that all fans from our league will go and support the teams we have in the tournament."

The teams selected were done so by Rovell and were not submitted by the league.
