
Manchester Wolves sign Howard Gilmore

MANCHESTER, NH-- The Manchester Wolves, who are coming off their best season in franchise history, continue to improve their roster and have added Howard Gilmore to the corps of very talented receivers.

Gilmore (6-2, 175) has been assigned to the team by the arenafootball2 league office for the 2009 season, which begins play for the 10th anniversary year in March of 2009. Terms of the contract were not released according to league and team policy.
"I believe that Howard will be a huge asset to us next season," said Wolves Head Coach Danton Barto, who plans to play Gilmore at both wideout and defensive back. "He was a productive college player who was invited to the NFL Combine following his senior season."
Gilmore, a Washington, DC native who played his collegiate football at Norfolk State University, was an All-MEAC first team selection in 2004. He started all nine games and led the team in receptions (37), receiving yards (715) for the fourth straight year, and touchdown catches (six) while ranking second in the MEAC in receiving20yards per game (79.4) He finished his career third in school history in receptions (140) and receiving yards (2,459).
Earlier this fall, the Wolves also added Deyon Williams (6-3, 196) from the University of Virginia and Deqwan Young (5-7, 180) from St. Joseph's to the depth chart at wide receiver/defensive back.
The Wolves, who made it all the way to the American Conference Championship game in 2008, open training camp in February and begin the quest for the ArenaCup on the road against the East Division Champion Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers on March 27th. Their fist home game will be on The Acting Loft Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena on April 18 versus the Albany Firebirds, another division foe.
