
Manatees Sign Dmitri Doulebenets and Zdnek Vanc

MIAMI, Fla. â Miami Manatees Head Coach Zac Boyer today announced the signing of defenseman Dmitri Doulebenets and right wing Zdnek Vanc.
Hailing from Usilor, Russia, Doulebenets played the last two seasons with ECHL Wheeling Nailers. In 107 games, Doulebenets, 6'1'' and 190 lbs, scored 22 goals and 33 assists for 55 points with 50 penalty minutes.
Doulebenets was a teammate of Manatees Head Coach Zac Boyer on the Colorado Gold Kings during the WCHL 2000-2001 season, where he scored 11 goals and 34 points in 59 games.
"Dmitri has amazing skills and can beat three or four guys at once. He loves jumping up in the rush all the time. He also is in great shape and doesn't complain. He is a great kid that I expect great things from." Boyer said.
Right wing Zdnek Vanc, 5'11'' and 190 lbs, comes to the Manatees after playing with the Long Beach Ice Dogs in the WCHL. In three seasons with the Ice Dogs, Vanc scored 23 goals and 21 assists for 44 points, while acquiring 196 penalty minutes. In the 2000-2001 season, Vanc was teammates with current Manatee defenseman JF Picard.
"Zdnek Vanc is definitely a gritty player who gets in opposing teams faces every shift. He has a no-holds barred intense style of playing, and he should be a 25 goal guy for us."
The Miami Manatees will face off against the Lakeland Loggerheads, Jacksonville Barracudas, Orlando Seals, Alabama Slammers, and Macon Trax. The World Hockey Association 2 (WHA2) season opens on November 6th. The Manatees will open up at home on November 8th.
