Manatees Defeat Barracudas, 5-2

MIAMI – Getting two goals and an assist from Center Ryan Kiley, the Miami Manatees defeated the Jacksonville Barracudas five to two Saturday night at the Miami Arena. With the win, the Manatees take sole possession of first place in the WHA2. Also getting goals for the Manatees was Oak Hewer, Tom Perry, and Eric Perricone.

Ryan Kiley started the scoring in the first period by converting on the power-play two minutes and 21 seconds into the game. Also scoring in the first period was right wing Oak Hewer and defenseman Tom Perry.

Ryan Kiley got the first Manatees goal at 3:39 in the second period, and later assisted on Eric Perricone's power-play goal at 13:26. With the goal and an earlier assist, Eric Perricone extended his league lead in scoring with 10 points.

The Manatees converted 3 of 7 power-play opportunities in the game, while killing off eight penalties. Two of those penalties were at a two-man disadvantage.

Manatees goalie Sean Weaver made 39 saves in the game. Barracudas goaltender Brandon Snee allowed five goals on 11 shots before being replaced by back-up goaltender Nate Ziemski in the third period. Ziemski stopped all eight shots he faced.

The Miami Manatees face off against the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, and Orlando Seals in the WHA2's inaugural season. All games will be broadcast on www.irn.fm.
