September 18, 2019 - Major League Rugby (MLR) News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - Major League Rugby (MLR) announced that the 2020 season schedule will be released on Monday, September 23.
The schedule for the 2020 MLR season has been much anticipated, with not only a new league structure, but also the addition of three new teams: Rugby ATL, the New England Free Jacks, and Old Glory DC. The regular season will feature 96-matches and is set to kick off on Saturday, February 8, 2020, continuing over 17 weeks, concluding on May 31, 2020.
Round one of the 2020 season will feature the Championship rematch between the reigning champions, Seattle Seawolves, and San Diego Legion. Seattle and San Diego have quickly built a rivalry on the West Coast, and the rematch of the Championship will feel even more familiar as it is set to take place at Legion's home field, Torero Stadium.
The third MLR season features an Eastern and Western conference style structure with each team playing ten in-conference games and six cross-conference games. The 2020 MLR season will dramatically conclude with an intense five-match Championship Series with a Championship Game of East versus West.
Stay tuned for the official 2020 MLR schedule release on Monday, September 23.
