Major League Lacrosse Partners With Exact Sports

Boston, Mass.- Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, today announced that EXACT Sports would be its official evaluation partner for the 2009 Major League Lacrosse Season. This marks the third consecutive year that MLL has used EXACT to run the physical and mental evaluation of top collegiate prospects from across North America.
EXACT Sports will bring to Major League Lacrosse the same professional, detailed evaluation system that they use with the Central Scouting Service of the National Hockey League.
"Our top priority is to give all college seniors an opportunity to be reviewed by MLL. Our college outreach began March 1 and we are excited that for the first time ever, all MLL teams will have detailed prospect reports available to review before the draft", said EXACT Lacrosse Director Simon Clements.
The 2009 outreach includes mental and behavioral testing before the combine, and physical evaluations of the top college players on the day of the 2009 MLL Draft. All player information collected before the combine will be available to MLL teams through an online database.
"Over the past three years, EXACT Sports has helped us collect and process draft day information," said Carl Uttaro, MLL Director of Lacrosse Operations. "We are excited to provide our teams with an opportunity to review player information well in advance of the draft. Overall, this process will strengthen our leagues field of players, and ensure that we continue to give our fans an elite game experience."
In a recent survey of Major League Lacrosse general managers and coaches, character and mental toughness were identified as the two most important traits they were looking for in a MLL player. EXACT Sports measures these qualities using behavioral testing software developed with over two decades of research.
"We are searching for young men that are motivated, confident, focused and composed in pressurized situations... a distinguishing feature or attribute that will make him a great teammate and representative of the Bayhawks organization," said Washington Bayhawks Head Coach John Tucker. "EXACT Sports testing gives us a tool from which we can fairly evaluate players during our MLL Combine."
"Traditionally, the standard for measuring athletic success at a professional level has been an athlete's 40-yard-dash time," Clements said. "EXACT Sports believes that only when you have a complete picture of all of the athlete's attributes can you help them develop into a successful player at the next level."
