Huntsville Stars News Release

Stars fans, you have one day remaining to order your Valentine's Day present for your sweetheart. This Friday and Saturday Homer the Polecat will personally deliver your gift. Creative Touch Jewelers have designed a special sterling silver necklace with a charm of your choice as part of this season's Valentine's Day special for Stars fans. You have a choice of a filigree heart, a butterfly or a rose. Additionally, this Valentine's Day gift will include a pink Ladies' Huntsville Stars baseball cap and four (4) tickets to the Huntsville Stars Opening Night on Thursday, April 9th. That's a package valued at nearly $100 when purchased separately and you can get this while supplies last for only fifty bones. For an extra $10 you can have the rose or butterfly charm enameled.

This is going to be a great Valentine's Day surprise for my wife (she's expecting a new car).

Anyhow, if you're interested you need to call Kylee Hanish at (256) 882-2562 or email her at kylee@huntsvillestars.com before 5:00 pm tomorrow (Tuesday). If you want a photo of the necklace/charms, email Kylee.

To the mailbag...

1. When is the next Operation Clean Sweep?

Operation Clean Sweep III is scheduled for Saturday, March 28th, at 9:00 am. Get it down on your calendar and tell your family and friends. As in the past we'll have plenty of stadium operations and clean-up jobs for all. Those that attend and participate will receive lunch and receive a credit towards future Stars tickets as we have done in the past. We'll meet in the 3rd base seats at 9:00 am.

2. I'm interested in working for the Stars; how do I get a job?

Those fans that are interested in Game Day Operations can attend a job fair scheduled for Saturday, March 14th, at 10:00 am, also in the 3rd base seats. This job fair is for all Game Day stadium positions, including concessions. All past employees that wish to return should also attend as we will review and update employee paperwork (W4s, I-9s, a new employee handbook, etc.) and new changes in store for 2009. Employees must be at least 14 years of age and have necessary work permits. Those individuals still in school have Labor Law restrictions until schools recess for the summer. Please bring a pen and two current forms of ID, one of which is a photo ID. Game Day employees are seasonal employees. The Huntsville Stars are an equal opportunity employer.

3. How do I sign up my daughter to sing the National Anthem?

We will conduct National Anthem auditions on March 14th. Please have any interested parties come to the stadium on that date. We will begin auditions at 11:00 am on the field (the Job Fair begins at 10:00 am). Performances are not limited to singers; musicians are also invited. We will have an independent panel of judges and conduct the auditions American Idol style. Please remember that we are searching for performers who will do a traditional version of the National Anthem. We understand that there are many talented individuals out there who are ready to cut their own albums and have their own music video; however, this isn't American Idol and there won't be a recording contract for Hollywood following your National Anthem performance, so please avoid the extended-dance-filthy-lucre-club-party-mix version of the National Anthem. We're looking for those that can perform the National Anthem within a normal time frame of 1:15 to 1:30 in length. Musical groups, church choirs, school groups, etc., are also invited. Please remember to perform the National Anthem in a respectful and tasteful manner. Hey, I like the Hendrix version myself, but there's a time and place for everything.

4. What's the deadline for season tickets?

If you're a 2008 season ticket holder and haven't renewed your seats you're in danger of losing them. Stop by the stadium and drop a deposit to keep your same seats. At this time it's first come, first served on all available seats. If you're not a season ticket holder and wish to become one, stop by the 2nd floor of the stadium and fill out a season ticket holder form. There are front row seats available right behind home plate. Season tickets are the most affordable option for Huntsville Stars tickets. Dollar for dollar, if you took advantage of every discount ticket offer and perk, you wouldn't come out farther ahead than you would with season tickets. The perks are huge, including discounted parking, admission to Stars road games in the other nine ballparks in the league and more. Call Babs at (256) 882-2562 or email babs@huntsvillestars.com for more information. Current season ticket holders, please ensure that you make your final payments before the season begins. Our offices are open (almost) seven days a week, so if you need to stop by on the weekend just let Babs know.

5. Will you deliver the Valentine's Day special to my wife at her job here in Wisconsin?

Yes, but there will be delivery, pizza and gas charges so you had better call Kylee ASAP.

That's it for today. Have a good week, everybody.
