March 10, 2006 - South Coast League (SCL)
Macon Music News Release

MACON, GA--The South Coast League of Professional Baseball's Macon, Georgia franchise is still searching for an identity. Citizens of middle Georgia are encouraged to participate in a "Name the Team" contest during the month of March. The Macon Professional Baseball Club is asking all Macon and central Georgia residents to submit their ideas for a team name by logging on to www.maconbaseball.com and filling out the "name the team" online survey. "We have been overwhelmed with the first wave of responses from the greater Macon area and we anticipate many more creative nominations for the new team's identity," stated league public relations director Omar Roque. "By all means, we would encourage everyone involved to continue sending ideas our way."

The contest will run from March 1st through March 21st and the unveiling of the club's name and logo will take place at an April event yet to be determined. The winning entrant will receive two 2007 season tickets, Macon Baseball Merchandise and the right to present the 2007 Opening Day lineup Card to the umpire prior to the start of the game.

"Macon a Name for Ourselves" entry forms will also be distributed to the Bibb County Public School System as well as participating local businesses, and can be returned via fax, mail, or in person at Luther Williams Field.

On a separate note, the Macon franchise is looking for any memorabilia pertaining to the history of baseball in Macon. Fans are encouraged to stop by the team offices at Historic Luther Williams Field with anything they can contribute. Old programs, promotional items, pictures, and newspaper clippings would be welcomed and greatly appreciated.
