MACON, GA - Macon Professional Baseball, Macon's new independent minor league baseball team, has named Matt Krantz as the club's general manager. The team made this announcement Thursday; 14 months before they are set to play at Historic Luther Williams Field as a member of the South Coast League of Professional Baseball.

Krantz, 25, comes to Macon after spending the previous three seasons with the Bowie Baysox of the Eastern League (affiliated-AA) and the Salem Avalanche of the Carolina League (affiliated-A). Krantz began his career in professional baseball working in the marketing department of the Baysox prior to joining the Salem Avalanche as a Sales Executive for the 2004 season. Krantz was promoted to Director of Group Sales of the Avalanche for the 2005 season where he played an integral role in breaking the organization's all-time attendance record. In October of 2005, Krantz accepted a position in the league office of the South Coast League where he served as Director of Business Development prior to today's appointment as the new Macon G.M.

"We are thrilled to name Matt the General Manager of the Macon franchise. The Macon community will be proud to have an individual like Matt leading their team into the inaugural season," said South Coast League Chief Executive Officer Jamie Toole. "Having worked with Matt for the last several years, I know that his leadership and commitment to the community will serve him well in this new role. I cannot think of anybody better suited to run the Macon organization."

"I look forward to becoming an integral part of the community," said Krantz. "This is a tremendous opportunity for me to be involved at the ground level, and to join a great community which has shown such incredible enthusiasm for baseball's return to Macon," said Krantz. "We look forward to providing the citizens of Macon and middle Georgia with affordable family entertainment."

Macon will be joined by five other charter franchises to begin South Coast League play in the spring of 2007.
