COLUMBUS, OHIO (August 11, 2014) - Major League Lacrosse announced Monday that Ohio Machine defenseman Dana Wilber was named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week after his performance in Ohio's 14-10 victory over the Florida Launch on August 9.

Wilber anchored the Machine's defense in what was a win and in game for the club's first ever playoff berth. Facing the league's leading scorer in Casey Powell, Wilber limited the MVP candidate to just a single goal, his second-lowest output this season.

"It was a great team effort this week," Wilber said. "It was important to close out the regular season with a solid defensive performance. The job isn't done yet. We still have two more wins that we'd like to get and our defense knows this is the time to step up."

Wilber is the third Machine defenseman to be named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week. Brian Farrell took home the award following the Machine's July 4 victory over the Chesapeake Bayhawks, while Chad Wiedmaier won the award after the team's season-opening victory over the Charlotte Hounds.

Rob Pannell of the New York Lizards was awarded the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week. Pannell scored two goals and added three assists in New York's 12-11 overtime victory against Denver. Rochester Rattlers attackman Miles Thompson was named the Cascade Rookie of the week after posting five goals and an assist in the Rattlers 18-8 win over the Boston Cannons.

The Machine returns to action when the team travels to Rochester to face the Rattlers in the semifinals of the 2014 Major League Lacrosse playoffs. The game will mark the team's first playoff appearance. Faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 16 at Aquinas Institute's Wegmans Stadium. The game can be seen live on CBS Sports Network.
