Ohio Machine News Release

Behind hat tricks from Peter Baum, Jimmy Dailey and Tom Schreiber, the Machine (1-2) earned its first win of the season with a 12-9 victory over the Chesapeake Bayhawks (2-1).

In taking the field without Steele Stanwick, the Machine's assists leader so far this season, Ohio was in need for someone to step up in his absence and they were able to find that in Daily. The attackmen who took the field for the first time as a member of the Machine, was joined by Greg Puskuldjian who was also playing in his first game as a member of the Machine but also his first as a professional. Puskuldjian finished 7-for-12 at the faceoff X.

The first half got off to a quick start as the Machine took the advantage, 8-5, after 30 minutes of play. Unlike their previous two games in which the Machine fell down to both New York and Denver early in the game, Ohio took the lead right away and never let it go.

The first goal of the game came a little over three minutes into the first quarter when Schreiber found the back of the net for the sixth time this season.

Schreiber who tallied his second hat trick of the 2015 campaign before half's end was complemented by Kyle Harrison, Baum, Eric O'Brien and Daily who each scored first half goals.

The Machine opened the second half picking up right where they had left off and after struggling with winning possession at the faceoff X so far this season, the Machine opened the second half with two straight faceoff wins, resulting in two goals.

Daily drilled home his second goal of the game just 16 seconds into the third quarter to stretch the lead to four. Zach Palmer added another quick goal for the Machine before Daily found the goal for the third time in his career.

However, the Bayhawks would not go down without a fight. Chesapeake battled back from a five-point third quarter deficit to pull within two before the start of the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was a scoreless one until Baum was able to fire a shot in to join Schreiber and Daily in the hat trick club and increase the Machine lead to three with five minutes to play in the game.

Brain Phipps continued his hot start to the season, tallying 14 saves in the game. Phipps now has 44 saves on the season.

Ohio is set to head to Florida on Saturday, May 9 to take on the Launch at 7 p.m. "‹before returning to Selby Stadium on Saturday, May 16 when the team hosts the Charlotte Hounds.
