Ohio Machine News Release
COLUMBUS, OHIO (January 19, 2016) - The Ohio Machine today announced they have acquired attackman Mark Cockerton and the No. 8 overall selection in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft from the Rochester Rattlers in exchange for the seventh overall pick in this year's draft. In addition, the team waived midfielder Tim Edwards.
Cockerton has scored 27 goals in 12 career Major League Lacrosse games, including 24 tallies in nine contests in his rookie season of 2014. He led the team in goals as a rookie despite playing in just nine games due to NCAA Tournament responsibilities. The University of Virginia product was selected 56th overall by Rochester in the 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft. Cockerton scored 125 goals in his collegiate career, tied for eighth-most all time at UVA.
Ohio has nine selections in the Collegiate Draft, including two picks in each of the fifth and sixth rounds. They last drafted from the No. 8 position in the 2012 Collegiate Draft, when they took midfielder Robert Rotanz from Duke.
Tickets for the Machine's 2016 season are now on sale. Ohio's home opener is on Sunday, May 8, at 2:00pm ET against the Denver Outlaws. The team will play their home games at Panther Stadium on the campus of Ohio Dominican University. Ticket information can be found at www.theohiomachine.com/tickets or by calling (614) 754-1973.
