MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis finished off their second straight series win with a 6-3 win over Salt Lake Friday night at AutoZone Park.

Redbirds starter Lance Lynn turned in seven strong innings for his 11th win of the year to lead Memphis. The big right-hander scattered five hits and allowed two runs with six strikeouts to move to 5-1 in his last seven starts. Lynn has the most wins in a single season since Mike Smith won 11 games in 2007.

The ‘Birds offense claimed an early lead in the first inning and used a four-run, fourth inning to put the game away. Five hits led to the four-run rally in the fourth with back-to-back-to-back doubles from Matt Pagnozzi, Jim Rapoport and Tyler Greene inflicting most of the damage. Joe Mather paced the Memphis attack with three hits and two RBI. Paul McAnulty led Salt Lake with two RBI, including a solo home run.

Bees starter Fernando Rodriguez took the loss allowing six runs on eight hits over just 3.1 innings. Josh Kinney worked out of an inherited jam in the ninth to earn his 10th save of the season for the Redbirds.

Memphis begins an important four-game series in Omaha tomorrow night. The Royals began play Friday night one game ahead of the Redbirds. Oneli Perez gets the ball for the ‘Birds against Royals right-hander Matt Herges. Memphis returns to AutoZone Park on August 25 to begin their final homestand of the year featuring nine games against Round Rock and New Orleans.
