Lowes Senior Class Finalist Named

Allentown, PA - Lillian Hammond, the 9th overall pick of the Philadelphia Force in the 2009 Senior Draft, out of the University of Tennessee, has been named a top 10 finalist for the 2009 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

The CLASS Award, Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, celebrates success on the playing field, in the classroom and in the community. Eligibility for the award compromises the student-athlete being classified as an NCAA Division I senior while having notable achievements in four areas of excellence: Classroom, Character, Community, and Competition.

Lowe's, a partner of the NCAA, expanded the award in 2007 to include different collegiate sports, including softball.

The Force asks that all of their fans help Hammond win by voting for her. Voting began on March 30th and lasts until May 7th. Fan voting is available on the awards' official website http://www.seniorclassaward.com, and will be combined with votes from coaches, media and sponsors to determine the recipient of the award winner.

So far this season, Hammond ranks third on her team in batting average (.385), while helping the Lady Vols to an overall record of 26-8.

The other finalists are: Whitney Haller, Georgia Tech; Jenae Leles, University of Arizona; Jessica Mapes, Arizona State University; Stacey Nelson, University of Florida; Amber Patton, DePaul University; Missy Penna, Stanford University; Samantha Ricketts, University of Oklahoma; Brittany Rogers, University of Alabama; Tammy Williams, Northwestern University.
