Lonny Landry to Coach Cane Cutters

The Acadiana Cane Cutters baseball organization is pleased to announce that Lonny Landry has been hired as head coach. Lonny Landry leads the Cane Cutters' inaugural season in the Texas Collegiate League with a background rich in baseball success. A native of St. Martinville, LA, Landry currently heads the baseball program at Ascension Episcopal School in Youngsville, LA. Prior to Ascension Episcopal, Landry headed a Teurlings Catholic program that went to the State Finals, State Semi Finals and State Quarter Finals. Landry has coached high school baseball for ten years, and has sent fifteen players on to the collegiate level.

From 1990-1993, Landry attended Flager College in St. Augustine, FL, where he still holds a single season stolen base record (49) and earned All Conference honors. In the summer of 1992 Landry played in the Cape Cod summer collegiate league for theFalmouth Commodores.

In 1993 Landry was one of two Americans selected to play on the World All Star team in Tokyo, Japan. The Detroit Tigers then drafted him in the ninth round. Landry played for the Tigers organization from 1993-1997.

Paul Bako, Team Advisor for the Acadiana Cane Cutters, stated that "Lonny's experiences from college, summer ball and minor league baseball will be of great value to our players this summer. His coaching experience will help our players advance their game."

Landry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is the father of Brycon, 15, Hali, 12, and Tatum, 6.
