(Long Beach, CA. April 15, 2008) The Long Beach Armada of the Golden Baseball League (GBL) announced today that they have agreed to terms with David Parrish for the upcoming 2008 season. Parrish, a first round draft choice of the NY Yankees in 2000, is the son of former Detroit Tigers Great and 8-Time Major League All-Star Lance Parrish. Parrish has been a catcher the past 7 seasons in the Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations, logging in 4 seasons at the AAA level.

"I am very exciting Dave chose to play in Long Beach," said Armada Manager Steve Yeager. "He comes from a great baseball family and I know he still has his sights and focus set on the big leagues and I hope the Armada will help him get there."

Parrish, 28, was a Big Ten Conference All Star catcher out of the University of Michigan, where he hit .356 with 11 home runs and 41 RBI in 50 games during his senior year. After being selected in the first round by the Yankees, Parrish played in the Yankees organization from 2000-2006. In 2006, Parrish was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates and enjoyed his best year as a professional, batting .292 with 4 home runs and 32 RBI in 72 games. The 6'3", 225 lb catcher has career minor totals of 33 home runs, 260 RBI with a .243 batting average. "I am excited to be playing ball in California again," said new Armada catcher David Parrish. "I played at Blair Field in the CIF Finals when I was at Esperanza but ever since I went to go play ball in Michigan, I have been on the east coast. It's nice to be back."

Parrish will now join former Yankee farmhand/teammate and current Armada player/pitching coach, Rik Currier, as battery mates for the 2008 Long Beach Armada.

"Long Beach fans should be proud to know that the 2008 Armada squad is shaping up to be the best team to play at Blair Field since the Dodgers, Cubs, Indians, and Angels were here in the 1960s," said Armada General Manager Steven Bash.
