La Crosse Loggers News Release
La Crosse, Wis. - The La Crosse Loggers bolstered their 2015 roster today with the addition of three signings from Long Beach State in right-handed pitcher Ty Provencher, outfielder Brock Lundquist and southpaw Keola Paragas.
Provencher will be returning to La Crosse for his second stint after serving as one of the Loggers top performers on the mound in 2014. The 6-1, 210 pound right-hander went 4-2 with a 2.94 ERA and ranked third on the team with 52 innings pitched. Provencher also notched a pair of saves last summer while striking out 32 batters and walking only 10.
Now a red-shirt junior at Long Beach State, Provencher has been a go-to guy out of the Dirtbags bullpen for the past three seasons, most recently earning All-Big West second team accolades in 2014 after leading LBSU in appearances (25) while going 5-5 with a miniscule 1.77 ERA. The Long Beach, Calif. native was equally as impressive in 2013 when he went 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA over 22 appearances and earned honorable mention All-Big West honors. So far this year, Provencher is serving as the team's closer and currently leads the club with four saves, while posting a 1-0 record and a 1.17 ERA.
Joining Provencher will be freshman slugger Brock Lundquist, a 5-11, 195 pound left-handed hitting outfielder from Fountain Valley, Calif. Lundquist was selected in the 36th round of the 2014 MLB draft by the Oakland A's but elected to attend Long Beach State instead. During his prep days, Lundquist earned Under Armor Underclass All-American and Max Preps All-State selection as a junior and was also invited to the MLB Junior Select Home Ryun Derby at the MLB All-Star Game in 2013, where he finished third out of six participants. Lundquist was also invited to the 18u tryout for USA National Team. Currently, he is hitting .294 and has swiped a pair of bases during his freshman campaign for LBSU.
Rounding out the trio of Dirtbags is freshman Keola Paragas, a native a Henderson, Nevada. Paragas was named the Nevada State Player of the Year by the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2014 after he went 8-3 on the mound with a 1.29 ERA and struck out 79 over 65 innings pitched . The 6-2, 180 pound pitcher also tossed eight complete games during his senior year of high school.
