Locomotive Academy to Compete in E64 Showcase

EL PASO, Texas - El Paso Locomotive FC Academy U13 Boys (6-0-1, 19 points, South U13-1) and U14 Boys (5-1-0, 15 points, South U14-2) will hit the road this weekend to compete in the US Youth Soccer National League's Elite 64 Showcase in Round Rock, providing Locomotive youth an opportunity to play against top level competition nationwide.

The Elite 64 Showcase is a single competitive event that takes place alongside the National League's top club-centric model, Elite 64. Teams in E64 face off against other like-minded clubs looking to provide young players with elite competition to maximize player development and experience. According to the USYS, notable names to have gone through E64 include Morgan Gautrat, Rose Lavelle, Samantha Mewis, Emily Sonnett, Daryl Dike, Jeremy Ebobisse, Jack Harrison, Jordan Morris and Walker Zimmerman.

Following an inspiring run at the The 2022 Ford Copita Alianza National Finals (which saw Locomotive's U14 boys finish as semifinalists and the U16 Boys be crowned national champions) plus a string of impressive performances in E64 league play, Locomotive Academy Director Ivan Militar is hoping that the Academy can emulate that success in the Club's first ever appearance at the showcase.

"Our U13 and U14 Academy teams are ready to go and are excited to play games against high-level competition from around the nation," Militar said. "The Showcase has an elite company when it comes to clubs and youth soccer organizations, so we are not only excited but also proud to be a part of this. Representing the El Paso community in these types of tournaments and showcases is a big deal and we intend to represent our people the right way: playing our style, showing relentless fair play, and trying to win as many games as possible!"

The showcase will take place Nov. 12-14 at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. The Academy teams head out Friday, Nov. 11.
