Local Stars to Shine During Gastonia Gamers 1st Home Game Tonight

Gastonia, NC-Under local ownership and management, the Gastonia Gamers prepare for their 1st WBA [World Basketball Association] season May-July by signing seven local stars, three Ashbrook High alumni; Eric Brice, Xavier Reeve and Steven Dixon, Brandon Rossand, 7" footer Tyronne McNeal from Clover high school and Antonio Wilburn.

The Gamers' 1st home game takes place TODAY Saturday, June 16th at Ashbrook High School 2222 S. New Hope Rd. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for students, children 5 and under are free; the Gamers are honoring fathers with a buy one get one free special for all local dads.

The locally operated Gastonia Gamers; Director of Operations Lafayette Montgomery, Stephen Dixon, and the WBA Exposure League will bring professional basketball to Gastonia. The new team is proud to call Gastonia home. The organization will be actively involved in the community and have a commitment to stimulating interest in area businesses. "The WBA Exposure League mission is to develop the talents of promising young athletes, and prepare them for the NBA, D-League, and international scouts, while bringing residents of Gastonia and surrounding areas thrilling and competitive play," says Leroy McMath WBA founder (www.wbaball.net). "In its 10th year, the WBA is proud to have the city of Gastonia's Gamers as its newest family member".

WBA basketball teams are comprised of well-disciplined superior athletes with a maximum of five years professional experience. Exposure to the professional leagues through the WBA has yielded several players who have secure positions with the D-League, overseas pro teams and the NBA with such players as Jamario Moon of the Charlotte Bobcats, Josh Powell of the Atlanta Hawks, Anthony Grundy, formerly of the Atlanta Hawks and Kyle Davis of New Jersey Nets and over 500 players of various professional leagues around the world.

The feeder league is steadily gaining momentum as the teams are developing throughout the Southeastern states including, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, and North Carolina.

Gastonia Gamers' and the WBA's combined perspective is the ability to better service the organized sporting arena by acting as a direct conduit between athletic, hopefuls and other professional leagues all while energizing the marketplace and community with great basketball.
