Little John Flowers Reports to Camp

February 8, 2008 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL)
Kalamazoo Xplosion News Release

With the first week of mini-camp under it's belt, the Kalamazoo Xplosion are happy to announce that running back Little John Flowers has made his 2008 debut for the Black & Gold. Flowers showed up to his first practice Thursday along with former Spartan teammates Richard "Skiddy" Newsome, and Dominick Brown, who each played for the Xplosion in 2007 as well.

With Flowers now back in the mix, the Xplosion backfield could arguably be one of the best in the league. Former Portage Northern High School All-American Kelly Baraka (WR/RB) will also be used a running back, as well as a slot receiver, in the 2008 season. Both backs are originally from the Kalamazoo area - Baraka, a Portage Northern grad, and Flowers a part of the one-two punch at Loy Norrix High School with T.J. Duckett, of the Detroit Lions. While both backs shared the same stomping grounds, they each have their own unique styles on the football field. Flowers is a 6'0" 220 lb. bruising back with deceptive quickness and a knack for finding holes in the line, while Baraka is the 195 lb. speedster who was once clocked in at 4.32 seconds in the forty-yard dash.

The duo is also joined in camp by former Muskegon Thunder and Grand Valley State running back Brent Lesniak, of Dowagiac, Mich.

Lesniak is the smallest of the three, but his his quickness and elusiveness make up for what he lacks in size. Last season, Lesniak was a threat to score every time he touched the ball.
