MILFORD, CT – The United States Basketball League, Inc. (USBL) has had another "graduate" to the NBA with the recent signing of Leon Smith by the Seattle Supersonics. Smith, a former member of the 2003 Texas Rim Rockers, played three games averaging 17 points and 16.7 rebounds a game. Smith pulled down 21 rebounds, a USBL League high this past season, in a loss against Pennsylvania.

Smith is a former 1st Round Draft pick of the San Antonio Spurs, whose rights were then traded to the Dallas Mavericks. He joins Keith McLeod, Olden Polynice, Oliver Miller, Ime Udoka, Maurice Carter, and Desmond Ferguson as former USBL Players making their debut in the NBA this season after playing for the USBL.

"This is a great honor for Leon. He has gone through some troubling times but has persevered and made his way to the NBA," stated USBL Founder and Commissioner Daniel T. Meisenheimer III.
