The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Wednesday that they have signed Guelph Nighthawks guard A.J. Lawson to a two-way contract. Lawson becomes the fourth player to have played with a Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) team to be later signed to an NBA two-way contract after Canadian, Lindell Wigginton of the Hamilton Honey Badgers signed with the NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks, Xavier Sneed of the Niagara River Lions with the Utah Jazz and three-time CEBL Player of The Year, Xavier Moon of the Edmonton Stingers signed with the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this year. "There are two words: mission accomplished," said Nighthawks Head Coach and General Manager, Charles Kissi. "We are so proud of A.J. and the work he put in this summer. His focus was unmatched. He was a willing learner and brought a great energy and attitude to practice every day. He earned this opportunity by taking advantage of what we had to offer in Guelph.
