Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Soul wide receiver and linebacker, Larry Brackins, was awarded the J. Lewis Small Playermaker of the Week award following anexceptional performance in Week 14. The fifth-year veteran recorded the first two interceptions of his career, while helping the Soul beat Iowa, 54-30.

Brackins (6'5, 225, Pearl River CC) stepped up into the Jack linebacker position on the third play of the game after the Soul defense suffered injuries. Throughout the outing, Brackins recorded seven tackles to complement his two interceptions. Along with winning the award, Brackins will receive a timepiece crafted by J. Lewis Small.

"When Larry comes in, we normally expect him to be a force on offense," explained Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "But because of injuries, we needed him on defense. His efforts on the field made him a real game-changer. Larry stepped up to the challenge and was a key reason for our success."

Earlier this season, Brackins also broke the Soul franchise record for most receiving touchdowns in a career, as he currently has 84 touchdowns. Brackins was also a member of the 2008 ArenaBowl Champion Philadelphia Soul team.
