February 6, 2014 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Rochester Lancers News Release

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers today announced Nick Pugliese to be the Lancers Honorary Captain of Sunday's 3pm game against The Milwaukee Wave. Pugliese, a Rochester native, is the only American pro soccer player in Afghanistan.

Pugliese, who played high school soccer under former Lancer Nelson Cupello, has been the topic of a Sports Illustrated story and will be featured this Sunday on ESPN's SportsCenter.

Pugliese got a job with a telecommunications company in Kabul and played soccer during his time off. Following his dream of playing pro soccer, he then quit his job after making the team for Ferozi FC, in the Kabul Soccer League.

Pugliese will be announced and recognized on the field prior to the Lancers kickoff at 3pm.

The Rochester Lancers host top seed Milwaukee Wave (11-2) Sunday, February 9 at 3pm at the Blue Cross Arena. The first 1,000 fans will receive free thunder sticks, courtesy of U of R Medicine. Kids 12 and under are FREE! To order tickets, or for more information on community programs, visit www.rlancers.com.
