KSU Soccer Stadium to Host 2011 Division I Women's College Cup

KENNESAW, GA (Aug. 31) - Atlanta Beat General Manager Shawn McGee along with Kennesaw State University and the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Committee today announced KSU Soccer Stadium as the host for the 2011 Women's College Cup. "We are honored to host the 2011 Women's College Cup, as well as this year's Oct. 2 U.S. Women's National Team friendly against China," said McGee. "This is a world class stadium built specifically to host these types of high-level, important events, which will help put soccer on the map in the Southeast." The Women's College Cup, which consists of the two national semifinals and the championship game for Division I women's soccer, will be played Dec. 2-4, 2011, at the KSU Soccer Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga.

"The Atlanta Beat partnered with KSU and submitted a very impressive bid," said McGee. "These events are especially important as we look to increase exposure for the game and continue to establish the soccer as a major sport in this community and in the country." "We're excited and honored to have been chosen as the host university for the 2011 Women's College Cup," said KSU head coach and co- tournament director of the event, Rob King. "The new KSU Soccer Stadium is the country's premier women's soccer specific stadium and we look forward to showcasing college soccer's most prestigious event."

"The committee is pleased to select Kennesaw State as host of the 2011 NCAA Women's College Cup," said Lisa Campos, chair of the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Committee and senior associate athletic director at the University of Texas at El Paso. "The committee is confident in Kennesaw State's ability to elevate the championship and student-athlete experience, which is a priority in the selection of a championship site."
