KNIGHTS ADD FORMER UCONN STAR DONNY MARSHALL

Knights Press Release

The Kansas City Knights continued to stockpile talent for the upcoming American Basketball Association (ABA) season by signing forward Donny Marshall.

Marshall, 29, was standout at the University of Connecticut before playing three seasons in the NBA. The 6-7, 230-pound native of Federal Way, Wash., was a second-round pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the '95 NBA Draft. He played in 90 games with the Cavs during the '95-96 and '96-97 seasons, averaging 2.8 points in 90 games. He rejoined the Cavs for six contests during the '99-00 season.

Marshall played for the Connecticut Pride of the CBA during the past two seasons. He was selected to the CBA All-Star Team during the '99-00 season. Last year he was averaging 18.1 points, eighth most in the league, and 5.7 rebounds in 21 games before the CBA folded.

Marshall was a starter his final two seasons at the University of Connecticut. As a senior, he averaged 15.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest en route to third team All-Big East honors. He was also a third team All-Big East selection as a junior when he contributed 12.4 points and 5.5 boards per outing. He averaged 26.0 points and 12.5 rebounds as a senior at Federal Way (Wash.) High School, which also produced former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Lake Dawson.

The Knights begin training camp next Monday, December 10 at Penn Valley Community College.
