
Knighthawks Prepare for Coming Swarm

(Rochester, February 1)... On Saturday, February 4th, the Knighthawks will host the Minnesota Swarm at 7:30 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The first 3,000 fans will take home a Chris Schiller bobblehead. The Urology Associates of Rochester will hold their annual Men's Health Night. As soon as the game starts, fans can bid on the game-worn jerseys in-arena or at GoBuyRochester.com. The auction will stay open until Saturday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m.
Head to Head: The Knighthawks lead the Swarm with a 9-4 all-time record. Rochester won the last meeting, 11-10 in overtime, on January 8, 2011. The game will be broadcast live on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.
Scouting the Knighthawks: The Knighthawks (1-3) enter the game in fourth place tie in the East Division. The Knighthawks lost two straight road games in two nights, suffering tough losses to Toronto (13-11) and Colorado (14-11). Cody Jamieson recorded six goals and nine assists for the Knighthawks in two games. On Friday, he netted four goals and collected four assists against Toronto. Jamieson leads the Knighthawks in goals (13), assists (14) and points (27). He ranks second in the NLL in points and goals, and fourth in assists. Stephen Keogh scored three goals and added six assists in two games. The second-overall pick is third on the team with 18 points in four games, which is tied for 10th in the NLL. Among rookies, he ranks second in points and first in assists (11).
Goalie Matt Vinc is sixth in the NLL with a 12.19 goals-against average. Defenseman Pat McCready is fourth in the NLL with 28 loose balls. This weekend, Rochester will try to avoid tying its franchise record of four straight losses.
Kirk Brothers go head-to-head: Brothers Mike and Evan Kirk of Orangeville, Ontario, will stand on opposite sides of the turf Saturday. Mike enters his sixth pro season in 2012 and first with the Knighthawks, while Evan is a rookie in the NLL. Mike, 29, spent the last two seasons in Boston as part of an 80-game career where he recorded 281 loose balls and 144 penalty minutes. Evan, 24, was the sixth overall pick in the 2011 draft after completing his four-year career at Hobart College.
Scouting the Swarm: Minnesota improved to 1-1- after defeating the Buffalo Bandits 19-11 last Saturday. The 19 goals tied a franchise-high in goals that was set in 2007 in Chicago. Rookie goalie Tyler Carlson made his NLL debut and recorded 39 saves. On offense, forwards Callum Crawford (2+7) and Ryan Benesch (3+5) led the Swarm in scoring for the second straight game. Transition man Andrew Suitor (3+0), forward Kevin Ross (3+2) and rookie forward Corbyn Tao (3+2) all contributed with hat tricks.
Welcome back Mac: Transition specialist Jordan MacIntosh will play his first pro game just minutes from where he played college ball. The fourth-overall pick in the NLL Entry Draft, led the RIT Tigers with 75 points (43+32) and 103 faceoff wins in 2011. MacIntosh has two goals and six assists in two games since turning pro. He is tied for fifth in the NLL with 27 loose balls after scooping up 19 against Buffalo.
Going streaking: Knighthawks forward Cody Jamieson has streaks going for goals, assists and points. His longest streak is 20, which dates back to his first game as a pro on January 8, 2011. He has also scored a goal in 12 straight contests, dating back to February 26, 2011, and extended his assist mark to 11.
Vote for the Knighthawks: Vote for your favorite Knighthawks players like Cody Jamieson, Mike Accursi, Stephen Keogh, Jordan Hall and Matt Vinc for the 2012 NLL All-Star Game. The contest will take place on Saturday, February 25th at First Niagara Center in Buffalo. The voting will remain open until Sunday, February 5th. Fan votes will be combined with the leagues general managers and head coaches, as well as the media, to select starters. Each groups vote will count as one-third of the total.
Hall of Fame Night: On Saturday, February 18th, the Knighthawks will induct defensemen Regy Thorpe and Pat Cougevan into the team's Hall of Fame. That evening, the K-Hawks will host the Washington Stealth at 7:30 p.m. The first 5,000 fans will receive a Knighthawks winter hat.
