Knighthawks host Portland tonight

The Rochester Knighthawks host the Portland LumberJax tonight at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be televised tape delayed on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. The contest is also available live on B2 Networks. The Knighthawks will kickoff the Nathaniel's Pub trading card series that night. The first of the four-card series trading card series features 1,000 Pat O'Toole cards.

On Kids' Night, the Rochester Americans mascot, The Moose, Rex the Raging Rhino, and Clifford the Big Red Dog will visit the arena and sign autographs. All three mascots will be participating The winner of the mascot wheelbarrel race at halftime will win a Bodine Cruiser trip to the Buffalo Sabres' game against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, February 22nd. The game is a 7:00 p.m. faceoff at HSBC Arena.

The game is the second meeting between the two teams and the first visit to Rochester by the LumberJax. Last season, the Knighthawks defeated Portland 18-16 on March 4th.

The Knighthawks enter the contest in first place in the East Division with a 5-2 record. Rochester has won three straight games and has also captured its last three on home turf. Forward John Grant (18+27) is tied for the NLL lead in points with 45 in six games. Forward Scott Evans leads the league with 24 goals and is fourth with 41 points. Grant and Evans are two of six players on the team with 20 or more points. Rochester is second in the league with 103 goals. Further, the Knighthawks lead the NLL with 34 power-play goals and a power-play efficiency rating of 61.82 percent. Defenseman Steve Toll is second in the NLL with 86 loose balls.

Portland is currently in fifth place in the West Division with a 2-5 mark after dropping a 10-8 decision to Colorado Thursday. The loss was the fifth straight for the LumberJax. Ryan Powell leads the Jax with 26 points (13+13) in seven games. Brodie Merrill leads the NLL with 96 loose balls. Merrill was named the 2006 NLL Defensive Player of the Year, an award he also won in the summer with the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse.

In the past week, Portland has acquired forward Kelly Hall and signed free agent defenseman Darren Reisig. Hall arrived in Portland from the Minnesota Swarm and had three goals and one assist in his LumberJax debut Thursday. Reisig also played against Colorado.

The Knighthawks finish their franchise-record four-game homestand with an 8:05 p.m. contest against the Arizona Sting on Saturday, February 24th. The game will be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. The contest will also be broadcast in progress on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK. The first 1,000 fans will also take home a Shawn Williams trading card courtesy of Nathaniel's Pub.

K-HAWKS' TEDDY BEAR AUCTION

Rochester Knighthawks players and dance team members are building bears at the Build-A-Bear Workshop® location at Eastview Mall to raise money and awareness for the CURE Childhood Cancer Association.

On Saturday, February 24th the Knighthawks will raffle off 24 stuffed animals to benefit CURE. Fans can bid on the creations at a silent auction at the Knighthawks-Arizona Sting 8:05 p.m. game at The Blue Cross Arena. For more information, go to knighthawks.net.
