Knighthawks Host New York Tonight

The Rochester Knighthawks host the New York Titans tonight at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet (Channel 26).

Head-to-Head: Rochester leads the all-time series with a 2-0 record. In the first meeting, Knighthawks forward John Grant registered a league and franchise record 15 points (9+6) as Rochester defeated the Titans 22-18 on January 27, 2007 at The Blue Cross Arena. His nine goals also tied his own record that he set on February 18, 2005 against Philadelphia. New York's Casey Powell registered one goal and 10 assists in the loss. The game is the first of two meetings this season. Rochester ends the regular season with its first ever visit to Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 26th. Rochester (3-3) enters game tied for fourth place in the East Division with the Buffalo Bandits (4-4). The Titans are 3-4 and just one half game behind the two clubs.

Knighthawks Notes: The Knighthawks take a two-game winning streak into the contest after defeating the Calgary Roughnecks 15-12 last Saturday. John Grant led Rochester with four goals and six assists en route to league Offensive and Overall Player of the Week honors. Scott Evans also had a big night with four goals, four assists and 10 loose balls. Shawn Williams chipped in one goal and four assists. Pat O'Toole earned the win in goal, stopping 43. Rookie Mat MacLeod also scored his first two professional goals and added one assist. Transition man Steve Toll is third in the league in loose balls with 73. Rochester is tied for the most shorthanded goals scored in the NLL with nine. Grant (392) and Williams (292) are both eight assists away from milestones.

Roughnecks Notes: New York has also won its last two games, which includes a 14-9 win over Chicago on February 16th. Jordan Hall was selected as the NLL Rookie of the Week for his three-goal, three-assist performance. The Titans are led by Casey Powell, who is tied for fifth in the NLL with 39 points (16+23). Ryan Boyle is also in the Top 10 in the NLL with 24 assists. In goal, Matt Vinc is 2-3 with a 12.24 goals-against average. The Titans have the top power-play unit (32 goals) and top power-play scorer, Mike McLellan (10 goals), in the NLL. New York is also second in the league in penalty-killing percentage at 65.38 percent.

Next Game: The Knighthawks hit the road for two straight games to begin the month of March. Rochester plays the Chicago Shamrox on Saturday, March 1st at 8:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on wysl1040.com and B2 Networks.

Knighthawks' Charity Event on March 6th: The Rochester Knighthawks lacrosse team will hold their Second Annual "Tip-A-Knighthawk" charity event on Thursday, March 6th to benefit CURE Childhood Cancer Association. The event is scheduled from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bugaboo Creek Steak House at 935 Jefferson Road in Henrietta. Members of the Knighthawks lacrosse team will bartend and sign autographs to raise money for CURE. The Knightingales dance team, Bugaboo's mascot, Moxie the Moose, and the Rochester Americans mascot, The Moose, will also be on-hand. Further, the festivities include a raffle featuring donations from local businesses and area sports teams. The auction contains autographed items from the Amerks, Knighthawks, Rochester Rhinos, Rochester Rattlers, the National Lacrosse League and Major League Lacrosse. Knighthawks' Teddy Bear Auction March 22nd: The Rochester Knighthawks will hold their Second Annual Teddy Bear Auction for CURE Childhood Cancer Association on Saturday, March 22nd at The Blue Cross Arena. Fans can bid on the 30 bears at a silent auction in the upper atrium lobby during the Knighthawks-Chicago Shamrox game. Faceoff is at 8:05 p.m. The players built the bears and animals at the Build-A-Bear Workshop® at Eastview Mall. Last year the event raised nearly $4,500 for CURE. Win a Championship Ring: The Rochester Knighthawks announced the details of the 2007 National Lacrosse League Championship Ring Raffle, which will allow one lucky fan to take home an authentic piece of Knighthawks' history. The raffle will take place on Saturday, April 12th and the Knighthawks will honor the Championship Ring raffle winner when they receive their ring during a presentation on the turf minutes before Rochester battles the Buffalo Bandits in the last regular season home game of the 2008 season. In addition to taking home the top prize, each winner will receive a Knighthawks' jersey with their name on the back, two tickets for the Knighthawks' suite and two complimentary passes to the President's Lounge. Fans can enter the raffle by calling the Knighthawks Office at (585) 454-5335 or by visiting the Guest Services table located behind section 119 at any Knighthawks' home games. With each entry, you will receive your choice of two Amerks or Knighthawks tickets. Each raffle entry is $50.
