Killer Bees Ink Two More Rookies
July 26, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced on Tuesday the signing of two additional rookies for the 2011-12 season. Forward Dan Nichols (6'0, 196) and defenseman Danny Markowitz (6'0, 175) both join the Bees from ECAC Hockey League institutions.
Nichols has suited up for the Big Red of Cornell University the past four seasons. Nichols is a grinding forward with a very physical game, Nichols does not shy away from the big hit or physical confrontation. Though he did not register a goal his senior season the forward picked up six assists and 54 penalty minutes.
Markowitz is another big body joining the Killer Bees. A true stay-at-home defenseman Markowitz missed last season with Dartmouth College due to injury but is prepared for his first professional campaign. The blueliner rarely finds himself penalized for infractions while keeping a steady hand on the blue line.
"Training camp is a great time for rookies to prove themselves and I'm excited to bring in both Dan and Danny," said Killer Bees General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "Both players have a certain skill set I am looking for to make this season a successful one for us."
The Killer Bees ninth season of play begins in October and season and half-season tickets are now available by calling 956-843-PUCK (7825) or for more information visit the Killer Bees online at killerbeehockey.com.
