Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that forward Emery Olauson (oh-LAW-son) has signed with the team for the 2006-07 season. Olauson's rights were acquired from the Lubbock Cotton Kings in exchange for Trevor Weisgerber on June 21.
"I'm excited to have Emery signed," said Killer Bees bench boss Tony Martino. "He wants to be a Killer Bee and we're happy to have him. He's a proven goal-scorer with great speed and good size. If he has a breakthrough year, we'll be successful."
Olauson, who will turn 25 later this month, played the last two seasons in Lubbock and finished second in scoring with 46 points (26-20-46) in 2005-06. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound native of Canmore, Alberta, was tied for the team-lead in goals and was second in power play tallies with 11. He is entering his third pro season.
"I'm excited to play under Tony and for a team that wants to win a championship," said Olauson. "I'm also anxious to see if the people in South Texas are as hospitable as those in West Texas."
The Killer Bees are getting ready for the fourth season of CHL action in the Rio Grande Valley. Opening weekend has been set for October 20 and 21, 2006. The complete CHL schedule is expected to be released in late July. Season tickets and corporate sponsorships are available now by calling (956) 843-PUCK.
