
K.C., San Diego Player Suspended

(Westport, CT. â April 4, 2003) Major Indoor Soccer League Commissioner Steve Ryan announced disciplinary action taken by the League against several players who were involved in various incidents and ejections during the MISL Western Conference Semi-Final game between the San Diego Sockers and the Kansas City Comets on Wednesday, April 2, in Kansas City.
While announcing the fines and suspensions Ryan stated, "The MISL playoffs are a showcase event and untoward incidents like this detracts from the game and our players. This type of activity will never be accepted by the MISL and will be dealt with severely."
Kansas City player Brian Soell is suspended for two games and fined an unspecified amount. Soell will begin his suspension immediately and will not be able to play in the playoff game this Sunday April 6, against the Wave and any subsequent game following.
The suspensions to the following San Diego players are, Mariano Bollella, (one game), Carlos Farias, (one game), Paul Wright, (three games), Leo Nava, (three games). and Nate Hetherington, (one game). All were also fined undisclosed amounts. The San Diego player suspensions will be served in the MISL's 2003-04 season. In this incident the MISL reserves the right to administer supplementary discipline. The Kansas City Comets will travel to Milwaukee this Sunday, April 6, to play the defending 2003 regular season Western Conference Champion Milwaukee Wave at 1:00 PM at the Bradley Center. The winner of this game will then advance to the MISL Championship Series with the Baltimore Blast who defeated the defending 2001-02 MISL Champion Philadelphia KiXX last night in Philadelphia 8-6.
