Juan De La O named player of the week
WISL Press Release
Dallas, TX - Arizona Thunder goalkeeper Juan De La O was named the FurySports.com Player of the Week for week eight in the World Indoor Soccer League. De La O allowed only one goal in the 7-1 win over the Sacramento Knights on September 23. In the win, De La O came within two minutes and 37 seconds of his third shutout of the season.
De La O received 42% of the vote, which was chosen by the fans. De La O beat out Dallas Sidekicks midfielder Giampaulo Pedroso who scored three goals and two assists, in the 9-5 win against the Houston Hotshots on September 24.
De La O currently leads all goalkeepers in goals against average with a low 3.59. To go along with his low GAA, De La O also has two shutouts this year, the only two in WISL history. Another remarkable fact is that De La O has allowed only 43 goals, the next closest is St. Louis goalkeeper, Brett Phillips who has allowed 54.
Previous winners: Previous winners: Week 1-Chris McDonald-SAC, Week 2-Matthew Stewart-HOU, Week 3-Rusty Troy-DAL, Week 4-Kevin Koetters-STL, Week 5-David Doyle-DAL, Week 6-Beau Brown-UT, Week 7-Mark Moser-STL, and Week 8-Juan De La O-ARZ.
Each week, WISL fans can log on to www.WISL.net to cast their vote for the FurySports.com Player of the Week. Results of the Player of the Week voting will be announced the following Monday.
