Josh Yaro Named to USL Championship Team of the Week

San Diego, Calif. (Sept. 21, 2021) -Defender Josh Yaro was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week after a standout performance that included scoring a goal in a Week 23 SD Loyal 1-0 win against Tacoma Defiance on Sept. 19.

Yaro has been a strongpoint in SD Loyal's back line this season and he showed it during a standout defensive performance against Tacoma Defiance. His efforts helped his team to its fourth shutout of the season along with the work of the rest of the defenders and goalkeeper Austin Guerrero. Yaro also scored his first goal with SD Loyal while winning three of three tackles and five of seven duels. He also had seven clearances and completed 87 of 92 passes.

Yaro, a Kumasi, Ghana native, signed with SD Loyal April 29 and has been an integral part of the defense since then. He has played in 22 matches, starting in 19 while playing 1,738 minutes up to this week. His stats include 98 clearances, 21 blocks and 43 interceptions. Yaro is the 10th player to be named to the player of the week this season as the team heads into its Week 24 away match against Oakland Roots.
