Jose Cabrera Named PCL Pitcher of the Week

RENO, Nev. - Right-handed pitcher Jose Cabrera turned in a dominant outing on Sunday against the Round Rock Express, Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, earning his first career Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week award.
The 24-year-old tossed five shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out six Express hitters without allowing a walk. In those five innings, Cabrera faced the minimum with the only blemish coming as a leadoff double in the second inning by Aaron Zavala who was later thrown out trying to steal third.
Sunday night marked his second outing of at least five scoreless frames in just his sixth start with the BLC-Nine. He is one of three pitchers in the PCL this season to turn in two starts of at least five scoreless innings and six-or-more strikeouts. The last Aces pitcher to accomplish that was Logan Allen during the 2024 season.
For the season, Cabrera now owns a 4.15 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 30 innings with Reno this season.
