Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Own a piece of Quakes history as the game-worn road jerseys of All-Star closer Darren O'Day and the All-Time Home Run leader Ben Johnson are now up for auction. The bidding will start at $100 and each following bid will increase by $10. The final winner of these uniforms will be contacted by email and will have a $5.99 shipping and handling fee. These game worn, road jerseys are 100% authentic and come with a letter of authenticity signed by Quakes General Manager Gerard McKearney.
Submarine-style closer Darren O'Day was almost un- hittable for the Quakes in '07. He was 4-0 with an ERA of 0.75 (2 ER in 24 IP) while logging 26 strike outs and just 6 walks. O'Day also led the team with 11 saves before being promoted to AA Arkansas. He led the entire Angels organization with 21 total saves in 24 chances.
Ben Johnson is a player that fans in Rancho Cucamonga will not soon forget. The gritty, switch- hitting catcher provided a lot of highlights for the Quakes fans in his 2+ years donning the Blue and Tan. After a slow start in '07, Johnson was promoted to AAA Salt Lake and was a different player for Rancho after coming back to town. He hit .277 with 12 doubles, 2 triples and slugged 14 home runs for Rancho and those 14 round-trippers made him the All- Time career home run leader in Rancho Cucamonga with 44 (Brandon Wood has 43). Johnson hit the only grand-slam home run for the Quakes in 2007.
