John Ryberg Reaches 50 Caps

On Saturday, May 21st John Ryberg became the sixteenth player in Major League Rugby to take the pitch for 50 matches.
It wasn't until Ryberg's final year at the University of Iowa that he began playing rugby. After graduating with a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, he moved to Denver and joined the Glendale Raptors. He played for the side in the Pacific Rugby Premiership and their first three seasons in MLR.

His first MLR season was interrupted by injury but Ryberg tallied 17 games for the Raptors over his two seasons with the club. In 2021 he signed with the LA Giltinis for their inaugural season. He played a pivotal role in LA's road to the 2021 Championship and scored two tries during the final that led to the Giltinis lifting the shield. Ryberg continues to make an impact at LA and MLR with 28 career tries to date.
Major League Rugby is honoring the first 50 players to reach 50 caps, and their role in building the legacy of MLR. The latest of the first fifteen players to reach 50 caps for MLR includes Luke White of the LA Giltinis, Ben Mitchell of San Diego Legion and JP Smith of the Seattle Seawolves.
