
JetHawks Stopped By Inland Empire 6-4

(San Bernardino, CA) - The JetHawks dropped the opening game of a four-game series with the Inland Empire 66ers, 6-4 on Thursday night, at Arrowhead Credit Union Park in San Bernardino.
The loss drops the JetHawks to 9-4 in the second half, and it's the first time the team has lost back-to-back games since the second half of the season began. Lancaster is now 52-31 overall this year.
The JetHawks jumped in front 2-0 in the top of the first inning. After loading the bases with no outs, Doc Brooks delivered a two run single. Later in the inning, Dan Tosca was thrown out while trying to score on an Adam Haley single to end the inning.
Sam Smith suffered his first loss with Lancaster, as he allowed five runs on eight hits over five innings. Smith is now 1-1 with the JetHawks.
The 66ers took a lead in the bottom of the second, as they touched up Smith for four runs on five hits. The inning was highlighted by a solo home run off the bat of Jon Nelson, his eleventh of the year.
Lancaster would add two runs in the fifth, to cut the lead down to a run. Phil Avlas doubled to left, and Danny Richar reached on an infield hit to put runners on the corners with one out. Steve Garrbrants grounded out to second to score one run, and Dan Uggla singled home the second run of the inning.
T.A. Fulmer (4-5) picked up the win for the 66ers, allowing four runs on seven hits over six innings.
The series against the 66ers continues on Friday night at Arrowhead Credit Union Park. Adam Bass will make the start for the JetHawks, and Bobby Livingston will go to the mound for Inland Empire in the 7:11 p.m. game.
