Lake Elsinore, Ca. – The Storm ripped the JetHawks pitching staff for 23 hits in a 23-10 win at Pete Lehr Field. Lancaster (16-14) dropped their third straight in falling to third place in the South Division. Lake Elsinore (16-13) leap-frogs into second in the South, and have won 5 of 7 from the JetHawks this season. The 33 combined runs exceeded the total by both teams combined in the three game series at the Hangar over the weekend.

The offensive onslaught was led by J.J. Furmaniak and Josh Barfield, who each scored five times. Furmaniak finished 5-for-5 with three RBI's, and Barfield doubled had four hits in five at-bats, driving in four runs. Greg Sain added three hits including his seventh home run of the season, and drove in five runs.

Scott Barber (3-2) was shouldered with the loss in his shortest outing of the season. The JetHawks right-hander allowed 11 hits and 11 earned runs in just two plus innings of work.

The JetHawks offense also thrived in the afternoon sun in collecting 17 hits. Marland Williams and Dan Uggla each had three, and Josh Kroeger was 2-for-5, including his fourth home run of the season. Kroeger drove in three runs.

Staked to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first, Barber allowed the first four hitters to reach on two doubles and two singles in the bottom half. Barfield's single, Jon Benick's double, and Sain's sacrifice fly tied the score at 3-3 after one inning. The Storm piled on five in the second and four in the third to take a 12-3 lead.

Lancaster mounted a comeback with six runs in the next three innings. Three walks by reliever Justin Craker led to a runs in the sixth, which allowed the JetHawks to close the gap to 13-9. That however, was the closest they would get

Mike Thompson (2-2) picked up the win despite a less than effective outing. The 6-4 righty was tagged for 10 hits and eight runs (seven earned) as he struggled through five innings.

Lancaster took an early 3-0 lead against Thompson in the first. Williams and Uggla opened the game with singles, and both scored as center fielder Josh Carter misplayed a Sergio Santos line drive into a triple. Jaime Jones extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single to score Santos from third.

The series continues Tuesday night with Lance Cormier (3-3, 3.38) pitching against Tom Lipari (0-1, 8.10) in a 7:05 p.m. game.
